Data Source

U.S. Census Bureau — American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. Census tables DP05 (Demographic and Housing Estimates), B02001, and B03002.

Geography

All figures represent incorporated city-proper populations, not metropolitan statistical areas. Suburban and exurban areas may show different demographic compositions.

Category Definitions

  • Non-Hispanic White (NH White) — Individuals who identify as White alone and not of Hispanic or Latino origin.
  • All Other Groups — Combined total of Hispanic or Latino (any race), Black or African American, Asian, multiracial, and all other racial/ethnic categories.

Interpretation Considerations

  • Hispanic origin is measured separately from race in Census data, so the NH White category excludes people of Hispanic ethnicity regardless of race.
  • Multiracial populations and intermarriage are increasing, which can blur strict racial or ethnic boundaries.
  • City-proper boundaries do not represent full metropolitan demographics; suburbs may show significantly different population compositions.

Sorting

Cities are sorted by NH White population share by default (descending). The Rankings tab and Data Table tab offer alternative sort options.
